Countyline Test Drift Day

yo whens the next one?? no one told me about this shit.. next time, someone PM because im there....seriously... im bumed i missed this one.... and eric u were rippin it, same with u redline!!!

yeah but McNamara is more fun to watch cause of the smoke, but he has an SR20 in his not much of a SR fan myself

If you took two people with the EXACT SAME skill level. Gave one a 300hp ae86, and the other 200hp. The 300hp one would win, you just have to use the power properly. Imo, Boost is the answer. But if you dont have the skills to back it up, its worth nothing. Obviously that guy didnt use his power correctly and got beat.

^ Yes. There are very little instances where an N/A can outperform a boosted car. And in the end. A built N/A motor will be just like a boosted motor, sacrificing all of it's bottom end, for the top end screamer power. Guess what? It'll feel the exact same thing as turbo lag. The only difference is that what we call full boost, you call powerband instead.

From what I gather, the whole N/A craze is to make thing easily competitive and where it lets driver's skill shine. It gives a more level playing field (for the competitions and races that restrict to N/A only). Basically they try to keep everyone on the same car with similar specs and letting suspension tuning and drivers skill do the talking.

When it's do or die, boost is almost surely the best way to go. With proper math, you can have a setup that yield little to no lag and that still pushed massive power. And to those who claim about "throttle response".... yeah the N/A has that crazy throttle response, but it only shines when you guys have ITBs. And guess what? We can do that too. Throw boost with itb's and a sick intake manifold (+ some short mandrel bent intercooler piping if you want to be anal) and you got yourself great throttle response.

But that's just me. And I love boost.

Plus.... no screaming N/A motor can come close to sounding as good as a boosted (especially inline-6 and up) motor when the wastegate is dumping straight into the atmosphere.

Amen to that

Look at the Matsuda vs. McNamara battle. Boost isn't always the answer in this case.

I forgot how he passed him, he did it on the outside  . Yeah and Matsuda was running with a carbed 4AG, he's awesome.

Believe me I have gone through studying both na and boost engine setups. I already know how to build a very responsive turbo 4ag and a good na 4ag. So it's a matter of I already have a lot of the 20v swap parts in my room waiting, I got a great deal on them. So one way or the other I'll have a 20v(boost or na) in there lol

I will say boosted engines sound good but NAs are just are a symphony of mechanical art.

I think everyone has his/her taste in things, thats what makes it even more fun seeing all the different cars, setups, etc. So we'll see how things go but ideas are always welcome, ideas inspire more ideas :bigthumbu .

As much as I hate to agree with you, it's true, BUT! I love N/A 86s. All other cars are awesome on boost, but the 86 is best when N/A, IMO.

You alcoholic whore. I saw your Miata yesterday at the A.A.

Not that I go there, you know, um... yeah.
