Simple things to do are to turn off Hardware Acceleration and Adjust Desktop visual effects.

To turn off hardware acceleration goto Start, Control Panel, Settings tab, then advanced, then click troubleshoot, then youll see a horizontal scroll that says hardware acceleration, scroll it to "none".

To adjust desktop visual effects (will free some ram, could help you with viewing videos) goto Start, control panel, system, click display, click advanced tab, then performance and click settings. Youll see a bunch of checked box's and you uncheck them all (or click adjust for best performance).

That there should help you view videos better online. These instructions could vary a little on different OS's, let me know if you need help.

i would say buffer settings within the video player but for youtube to be skipping is weird. my 6 year old pos laptop can play youtube vids fine.

Follow this advice, should do the trick!

I would have issues playing YouTube videos when my Firefox would take up too much memory due to multiple tabs and never closing the program. Only way I could get it to properly play again is by restarting Firefox.

try different browser. like firefox. then also go to start, run, then type msconfig in text box, go to start tab and uncheck anything you know you dont need starting up. alot of times out of the factory comp companies will overload their lower budget computers with too many trial start up programs.

no do that.... ruin your life... and sue this guy^ for not laying down a disclaimer lol

will this make the computer operate any differently

It depends on your hardware configuration.

If you have a basic video card (especially on a laptop since it would be leeching memory from system memory) you may want to turn down the video hardware acceleration. You may also just want to try tweaking it and downloading the most recent video card drivers.
