Chevy Camaro's Airbags Deploy While Attempting To Drift

And this is Chevrolet's response in the matter

Chevrolet's director of communications, Michael Albano, has responded with the following:

"It is unusual to have this occur. However, it is possible for a driver to create conditions where the air bag sensors believe a rollover is imminent. This can lead to an unwanted air bag deployment. On rollover side curtain bags, the vehicle's rollover sensing system is looking for a certain set of factors that "predict" a vehicle is going to roll over. The airbag system cannot wait until it is too late to deploy the airbags. Drifting or creating a situation that has a certain combination of speed and vehicle angle can lead to an unwanted air bag deployment."

Crazy but u can't be mad at chevy for trying to make it safe. They should just make sure people are aware of this so if they want to push a car this way they have to disable the functions

That's a bullshit response from Chevy. Call it safety if you please, but if you can't have fun in a car that was built to have fun in, it's a waste of money. Chevy should just have a system that will deploy the airbags if it has been in an impact.

Well it make sense on Chevy's part if you think about. Like Rodd said, they do have to cover their asses. IMO they can fix this by implementing some sort of Konami code to disable the side airbags. That way you don't have to worry about them deploying when you're understeering at the track.

Eh. I guess. It should just have a track mode where every setting turns off. Kinda like the Boss 302. It has a second key that activates a more aggressive engine tune and all of the driver assists are turned off.
