And like a friend sayed - skylines are the japanese version of muscle cars no technology, pure brutal power put down on a reinfoirced chassis lets compare that to an m3 engine which puts down almost 350 hp N/A thats amazing.

Please dont shit on this thread guys lets have a conversation. With facts.

More than 1500 single victories, 60 national championships in street and hillclimb races as well as in rally sport, plus seven European hillclimb championships, five Mitropa Rally Cup wins and eight victories in the 24-hour races at the Nürburgring and at Spa make the BMW M3 the world’s most successful touring car

im not starting anything beemers are better than nissans POint blank because thats the way they were designed for exteme performance and luxury very nice and very expensive cars in witch alot of money went into there designs Shit i was in a 03 m3 that had intake full exhaust and was chipped on Nice 20s bitch still chirped gears and i fell in love but its gonna be a while b 4 i can afford something like that

while on the outher hand nissan is based on economy (cheap) with just enough power to be fun to drive and still be afordable witch is why there value drops so fast they are mostly glued together and there are ALOT of the same model made

thers really nothing else to say they can never be compared EVER its just not fair to nissan

It is stupid to compare. The only way this is fair is if we're either:
a: Comparing DIRECT competition production cars
b: Comparing DIRECT competition race cars

If Nissan goes head to head against BMW anytime soon, we can talk. JGTC cars are f'n amazing though...certainly higher up in the performance car spectrum than any BMW tourning car has ever been (IMO) but until they enter a car into the JGTC or Nissan enters GT cars in LeMans (just one example), this discussion is pointless.

When it comes to street cars, BMW's M-series absolutely destroy any competing Nissans. The new GTR vs the new M3 will be interesting...price should be about the same. Lets save the discussion for when there's actually something to discuss!

I disagree. The Skyline GTR's of yesteryear were intended to be Nissan's premeir street sports car...they were anything but affordable and designed with one goal in mind...be the baddest sports car from Japan. Unfortunately, it always fell short..the stupid 280hp gentlemen's rule comes to mind (that Nissan will no longer follow, thank God).

The new GTR better live up to its hype...if it does, it will > current M3's.

How about tuned m's and tuned skylines? whats your take anthony?

Tuned M's, without a doubt. Road courses, drag racing, drifting...M's win.

I like bmws, If i could afford one I'd buy one.... but I'd rather have a 350z than a 325is (which have about the same msrp). And i'd rather have an m3 than a 350 but that's double the price.

your friend is dumb. The skyline is nothing like a muscle car. In fact a stock gtr is not a fast car. It has 280hp handles exceptionally well and has all wheel drive. and other crap: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nissan_Skyline_GT-R

honda made a 1.6 liter engine 19 years ago (in production) that made 100 hp/liter(NA). Does that make Honda a better car company than bmw or any other company which couldnt touch that for years? Power/Displacement with NA/Turbo is a stupid subject period. You can make any car fast and you can make any motor powerful.

They are both good companies. Who's better in races? who has more money, who has good drivers, who can manipulate the rules better.... It doesn't matter what car it's in!

Guillermo, stop trying to feed your BMW ego because someone said BMW is better than Nissan.

This thread will always result in shit because biased Nissan owners have their opinions and the whole point is what Anthony said and what I repeated over and over again since the first old million page thread:

Nissan and BMW are not direct competitors, therefore there is no point in comparing them. If there would be a direct competition then you could discuss this issue.

Tuned Ms vs Tuned Zs is just a matter of who has more money put into the car.

Ok, I hate to break it to you, but that was a dumb remark. A stock GT-R will beat many muscle cars, not all, but many of them. It is deffinately not a slow car. In fact, how can you call a stock 13 second car slow? It has 280 hp rated from Nissan, but most of you should know that is BS. A stock R34 RB26DETT will make 330 hp+ at the crank.

As for the BMW vs. Nissan thing, I don't know what started this discussion, but it is a dumb topic. We all know BMW can build a car more expensive than it needs to be and still sell it like hot cakes. As for Nissan, they have to prove themselves, in America atleast, that the new GT-R will be worth the price. Seriously, I can easily say that BMW is the better manufacturer. They have a legacy with everything they build. Every BMW has something that says, "I am a BMW, a rich man's car," even if some of us dead beats can afford one. Not every Nissan has that. If you look at a 350 Z, it might tell you, "I am a Nissan 350 Z, some punks car." Let's not say what vibe a Sentra might give you. Sad but true.

Now bang for buck is another question. I am not sure about the M3s price, but it looks to be about $65,000 brand new. You can get a brand new base model 350 Z for $27,000. With the $38,000 you saved, you can build a monster Z that will destroy any M3.

The conclusion to my rant is this.... It's your choice and preference.

Base model M3 with 333bhp starts at $45k

Thanks for the info. I really didn't know. Still save 18k, but like I said, it's all choices and preferences. You know what I would go for? It's neither a BMW or a Nissan. A 05-06 Pontiac GTO. Not the 04, cuz it has the LS1, and I want the LS2. And it has a single sided exhaust. V8s need dual exit exhausts.

WOW this thread appreared again? I really thought it was way behind us and everybody got along...I guess not....Personaly i think i was stupid for starting the first Nissan VRS. BMW thread, both of them are awesome manufactors, Personaly right now, BMW needs to be looking out for LEXUS with there awesome oscilatting A/C Vents, I dont know if BMW has had that before but man its awesome....SO IMO LEXUS>BMW,Infiniti, Mercedes(AFTER THE MERGE WITH CHRYLSER), Acura...........

And i think it was the R34 GTR that held the record at the ring i think until the prosche 996 Turbo came along and beat it.
Reguardless things are about to change now that the 280HP rule is gone, Everybody will now see what the japs can really accomplish!!!

Nissan R92CP FTW!!!

Uh oh HONDA FTW!

But I always thought The Wankel held the crown for most power per litre? I guess Times change

Yeah the renesis has almost 200hp per liter and do give me any of that a rotory is worth double its displacement, since displacement is the swept volume of a engines chambers added together not some stupid compensation factor guys who are insecure with their piston motors make up.
