APPLE FILES SOLAR PATENT: MacBook going solar?

If you read Inhabitat with any frequency, you know we are always on the lookout for greener gadgets that will reduce the amount of energy and waste associated with wireless mobility. Well, we just spotted some breaking greener gadget news that are sure to get Apple fans excited! Drumroll please..

Apple just filed a patent to infuse their hand-helds and computers with a thin film of solar cells, paving the way for a new generation of gadgets with battery life boosted by the sun. The patent approaches the prospect from every angle, with schematics to stack photovoltaic cells beneath the entire surface of their portables - including the screen!

We’ve covered portable solar solutions in the past, but it’s big news when such a prominent player steps up to the plate - and who wouldn’t love a greener Apple?

Resale value > PC
Virus > PC

Apple is just better in what they offer and how they design there products. Let's not forget that Apple builds a new product once ever 6months to a year. PC tries to come out with something every month and still can't exceed the needs to compete with Apple. They blow them out each and everytime.

Resale value? Lmao. Idk what you're talking about "PC" being unable to exceed the needs to compete with Apple. English yo. Apple switched over to PC hardware (intel x86 architecture) for a reason anyway. :bigthumbu

Viruses do pwn PC's though. I have over 60 infected machines im trying to repair right now b/c a virus got into a share folder everyone here uses. Fun times.

Go buy a HP desktop that cost 2k and sell it a year later... Talk to me when you have experience, PC has horrible resale value, you and I know that.
 
I'm lol'd b/c no computers hold any value over any significant period of time. I build my own pcs and generally use them for about 4 to 5 years. I don't expect shit for a Mac or PC after that period of time. And if I can get a 1 year old $2k PC for significantly less, then im glad PC's don't hold their value, more bargains for me. :bigthumbu
 
Fighting? We are conversing. Mac is like the high end cars they have good resale value. I got Macbook Pro for 2300 and sold it a year later for 1500. On ebay where shit goes "cheap".
 
Ok...so your point is resale value...

About 5 years ago you could get a 240sx for dirt cheap.
About 3 years ago they were like 10K.

I rest my case.

Fanboi shit > actual value.
 
Brand name PC laptops hold their value too, no question about that. 2300 to 1500 is a 63% reduction in value in 1 year...nothing to run home about anyway.
 
You guys are intitled to your opinions. Low Risk your arguement with the 240 is retarded and know where near in the same class.
 
This is not an opinion, its a fact.

You also have to consider that mac's generally only come in a few trims, high end, higher end, and the shiznit.

PC's come in flavors such as refurbished off brand made in china 3 year old technology garbage.

So bluntly saying pc'z dont hold their valuez is totally bias in that regard.

Take your average high end laptop from dell, sell it one year later, you will not see any more of (if any) a percentage price drop than a Mac.

when the actual price does not reflect the actual value of the product either way.
