anyone

^ lol fuck yeah you did. I would also disagree on the statement about not being able to beat on an SR.

i beat the living shit out of my old red top, red-lined it at 7.5k multiple times daily (yes, ricer) WHILE it knocked for 5 months straight, before it finally spun a rod bearing from not being consistant on my oil level checking (blown turbo, burned 1/2 quart a week) and running it with low oil. Not to mention it had around 130psi compression and was a shitty motor to begin with. Even with it being all fucked up, it still ran hard and i beat the fucking piss out of that thing. It definitely took a beating for what it was

My current blacktop i take much better care of, and i dont beat on it as often. I change the oil about every 6 weeks, and hardly take it above 7k, unless im drifting or its a really close race. Motor runs much harder and hasnt given me a single issue other than an annoying ass exhaust manifold leak, which has nothing to do with the reliability of the motor. From my experience, these are good motors to make decent power reliably and handle constant abuse.

Having experience with both engines, i will say i miss the low end torque and early power of a KA. Stock KA's start to pull gradually after idle and slowly die off around 5k, while basic bolt on SR's dont really make any power untill after 4k and gradually pull harder till about 7.3k, so they are pretty opposite in that matter.

Ka-t seems awesome, but i personally wont do one untill i can afford and have the knowledge to build one properly. I would say keep the stock KA and enjoy the low end power. They have plenty of power learn to drift and have fun with. You definitely dont need gobs of power to drift. Then when you have some money saved up, and you have a decent suspension and diff set up (preference), you can make your own decision on what you want to do for your boost and engine options.

Good luck with your car. I hope you dont have as bad of luck as i did with my 240s :p Either way, it doesnt stop me, reguardless of what dumb people on here talking shit have to say about it. Hope that helps a bit.

^LMFAO at sr limiter

but back to topic, ka-t is more powerful but sr is more reliable. the sr was built from the factory to handle boost while the ka was not. i only know of one KA on boost that is a reliable motor that WONT blow because it is FULLY built. if you wana pour 10k into a engine so that it could handle the boost then be my guest, but ill sit back and play around with my sr all day and just change my oil. there is a reason that you will see more sr's out there than ka-t. there is alot of work involved with them and it isnt like a honda that you could just slap a turbo on it and expect awesome performance. Do the research. GOOGLE IS YOUR FRIEND

With a healthy KA, if you did the work yourself and found good deals on used parts, you could have a ka-t able to handle low boost (7-10 psi) for about the same cost as a stock SR swap with more power, borrowing the injectors and turbo from a stock SR

with:
-stock t25/t28
-aftermarket turbo manifold, elbow, downpipe
-Any front mount kit, bov
-444cc injectors (stock from s15 SR) or 370cc (s13/s14 SR)
-Walboro 255 (pretty much necessity even with stock SR swap)
-Adjustable FPR
-300zx MAF
And you would want to make sure you have at least an SAFC tune, especially if you want to run more than the stock wastegate boost

To be safe and be able to run more boost you could do a basic rebuild including:
-New oil seals/water pump
-Forged rods/pistons
-Upgraded bearings
-ARP head studs

though at this point you would be breaking even or spending a littlte more than you would for an SR, but you would already have a decent amount more power than an SR, and a hell of a lot more bottom end torque, and be able to spool bigger turbos much quicker. At this point you might as well go all out with a build :p

ka with itbs

but on a serious note a t25 ka-t set up can be built for much cheaper then putting in an sr

I love you posting in his thread with that Sig.....its fucking hilarious.

On a side note. I kinda am excited to see the thread about this car running like a beast with maybe a short video of the op doing a 110 degree entry. Just to shut all the haters up. :chair:

Sighs .. So you beat on your sr knowing its bad. Then blow it ... That's reliable . Your not helping this thread . My ka ran strong it's whole life an sold it running on point . Going to events and daily driving . If you build a ka-t the right way as said above it will be on point . People don't take care of there motor so it blows .

Notice how you said you ran it hard in the rain ... End of story

But that adds credit to his point lol. In the rain, tires spin easily, thus making you more prone to bouncing off the rev limiter. Unlike on dry pavement where you really need to keep an eye on the throttle because you're more likely to catch traction again.

But then again, SR's are not known for handling high revs very well lol.

the load on the motor is much less in the rain. and you dont have to floor it. if you are banging limiter all crazy in the rain, you have terrible throttle control yo. its not cool to hear that unless your in a honduh.
