Ae86 Trueno

ive had both i perfer the corolla its more fun to drive, parts are still cheap, swaps are just as easy as a 240

corollas are balls ass slow and you will get laughed at cause the price you will pay for a 25yr old car is rediculous... and STAY AWAY from SR5's... i had the sr5, and i will never get another, if ur willing to pay the jew prices then get a GTS...

and if u go to school with beamers and all that shit, they wont know what a corolla is, and if they do they will still just laugh at you...

swaps are just as easy as the 240....but a 160 hp s13 doesnt break rear ends left n right.

its way too much work

true you need to do a custom rear end if you wanna make any power alex has broken more rear ends then i can count (no homo:eek:)

Rear-Ends, anything interior will break/crack/snap, rust is rad, wheel bearings, things that worked 20yrs ago no longer work.

The Corolla is a true enthusiast car. You really need to love the car to put up with it's bullshit. They break, they smell, they are slow, and the girls really don't care for them too much (unless you drift it, because it's worked for me).

You need to also realize you are going to pay about 3500 for a decent one, and still have to put up with fixing it all the time. Suspension work isn't putting on a set of coilovers and alignment. There is a lot, such as the lateral rod, RCA (or NCRCA), and etc., that must be put on any time you do a coilover set up.

If you get a GT-S, the stock 16 valve 4AG will be pretty much powerless, and requires some serious driving to get it drifting. Foot to the floor, and very aggressive steering work. Anything that will slow down the car (e-brake, and braking without accelerating) are rarely an option when drifting these cars. Left foot braking is a technique that has to be learned.

If you still want one, when you accomplish something in an 86, it is very rewarding, but a major PITA.

Its funny cause i could slide my ae86 better then my s13 but i guess its just how i drive. And my gts 4age made enough power with a few mods to do englishtown but i was balls out in third gear.

sr5 is carbed, open diff, and rear drum brakes= weak
gts is efi, lsd, and disc brakes all around= yay

and if youre gonna get a corolla, please get a coupe!!

but my opinion, get a 240. if youre gonna slide it, youre gonna break shit. and its so much easier to come across s13 parts, and a lot cheaper too. and you dont have to worry about removing the entire rear end to work on the diff. and i believe some of them had manual steering racks which means no ps= suck imo. and im sure theres lots more cons, but ive never owned one so i couldnt tell ya. goodluck getting something legit, whatever it is!
