i have an 89 s13 w sr20det swap i did ..its been running great for a year...
no problems other then normal stuff bad turbo bad coilpack
always worked fine....she started driving bad like just dumping fuel and smoking grey..ie fuel....
i checked codes with consult...nuthing.....
i checked coilpacks...aginst fsm specs..good..
power to coilpacks good
power to fuelpump...good
car runs like crap
i was changing brakes on driver side and noticed the harness was rubbed by my wheel..
only 7 wires were rubbed not into the big hraness
now i guess when the wires rubed..it did sumthing cause the motor acts like its 2 cyl..just dumping fuel..and cutting off...
i seperated the wires and covered them back up check all the fuses...
the consult and ecu doesnt say anything..no codes..i checked for communication...to the codes by unpluging the maf and then i got a code..
so if there was sumthing wrong it would say it..
now has any one experienced this after the wheel has rubbed the harness...
now its seven wires
yellow/purple...gets 12v switched
brown...gets 12v swictched
orange...dead..
med thick lt green...12v switched
small green/blk..dead
x2 black..grounded...
please if u can help me id really appreciate it..

What side rubbed? Passenger or driver? Maybe your ecu took a shit? Also, you say that it feels like it runs on 2 cylinders; confirm that. Figure out what cylinders fire by taking out coilpacks or injectors etc...
 
drivers side wheel well harness...
and good point i did check coilpack if they were good..and had 12v..
but i literally didnt take it out....to see if was shooting spark..
i shall check that..
i checked for injector leaking...like i pulled out the rail and turned on ignition no leakin...
can the engine run if ecu is shot?
 
no engine will not run if the ecu is shot...my car did this once and i just hit all the coilpacks with my hand and it was good to go lol
 
I ate through a harness once and the car ran like poo. After cutting and splicing/soldering new wires, it was ok again. If you're running on 2cyl, isolate the 2 that are bad and trace everything you can until the problem is resolved.
 
well in the drivers wheel well is the main harness....so i figured it maybe sumthing sumone experienced...and i just changed all coilpacks

i kno its like only 7 wires but the engine is running bad...and i fixed the wires and nuthing so
im stuck...anyone lmk

who cares? thats ur main chassis harness? :ugh:

It would have nothin to do with his engine acting up. That side runs to the driver side fuse box ex. Headlamps ac other b.s etc etc...

Does it smell like your burning tons of fuel?
 
yes it smells like fuel bad and smokes like a fuel smoke..
ive gone thru alot of checks...
fuelpump power
another ignitor...
coilpacks power and resistance value...
i just went and checked all coilpack r fireing....spark from a sparkplug
and when i started it she sound like it was runing on 2cyl..but i kno there fireing..
its like the injectors get slightly stuck open..or coolant temp sensor....
but consult is not showing any codes
does anyone kno bout the wires at all...i mean like i checked the fsm for the wire..
and nuthing....i kno they go to the pass side..but not into fuse panel....
so b4 i splay the whole harness to trace the wires down sumone lmk

\well i repaired those wires and it still runs like poo...no codes...all fuses good...this really suks
she smokes and dumps fuel when im driving...

anyone got any good input?

have you checked your oil? is it full of gas? you might have washed out your rings with a wide open injector. if thats that case its time for a rebuild or a long block
 
pull the fuel rail and check for fuel leaks.

or the usual bad maf / corroded connector

is the car rom tuned by chance?
 
no rom tune
injector rings no leak when checked..rail off pump on..
i believe its the coolant temp sensor since its dmping fuel with no codes..
tomorrow ill check with new senssor

so u guys think that the seven wires that rubbed were tied into the injectors?
well on consult the injector were reading a normal duty cycle just reading rich with low reading on o2 sensor
