Odd thing happened to me...

Wow man that sucks, but everyone has its time. I'm going to lighten this thread up since I think it's filled with sadness. Me, my brother, and a friend use to work together doing carpeting. We had to do a job at a store after it closed (9:00pm). The owner of the store didn't "trust us with their products just sitting there" so he paid an employee to watch us and make sure we didn't take anything. 4 hours into the job (it's about 1:00am) the employee (a 45 year old women) passes out on the floor since I guess she fell asleep. about an hour later (2:00am) my brother runs up to me and our partner and goes "dog, I think someone stabbed that lady". I imediately was like "wtf". So I go and check on here and their she is: laying on the floor, her back was facing us, wearing bright white pants; blood poured out her butt. her tampon had slipped out...

Lmfao, for once you say something funny.

I watched that kid die after a car accident...that sucked. Still think about it today. Idk how paramedics, emt's, dr's, etc do it.

its not easy. i saw a kid die once.. it will haunt me from time to time.

i saw some dude get hit by a civic and the dude was launched over some street lights and when he landed , his head hit right on the curb and **pop** blood every where . when the rescue got there they poured this white powder on the blood and it bubbled up and they scrapped it off the road with a shovel. it was pretty intense seeing this heavy dude fly thru the air like that.

i almost saw a guy get hit by a bus in fort lauderdale on sunrise and powerline. i saw the bike come out from under the bus and a shoe fly up in the air.

So now this thread turns into the most gross shit you people have seen???? Stay on topic guys Ben(had to refrain from typing bladder) doesn't need to hear that shit, neither do I.

If you didn't know, I do food deliveries in the morning for my step-dad's business. Almost all of the people I deliver to are old or near it. So on Monday I go to one of my stops and the door opens, as usual. As I hand the bag of food over to my customer, I noticed her breathing heavily as she asked me to come in and help her with her husband. I come to find out he had fallen off his bed in his sleep and he couldn't get up. His wife tried to get him back up but she couldn't because of his weight. Not that the guy was hefty or anything, but she just didn't have the strength for it, which is what caused her to breath heavily.

I go into the house not knowing what to expect and as I approached him in his bedroom, he was on the floor bleeding at the top of his forehead and laying on what I imagine was his urine. His pants and the floor he was laying on was wet including the aroma that emanated from the floor lead me to conclude it was urine. I reached out to him and attempted to get him up several times, but I couldn't. I just didn't have to strength to carry his weight. The best that I could do was have him lean his back against a chair so that he wasn't completely on the floor. As I was trying to settle his back onto the chair so he could lean on it, I noticed he kept trying to slide off it, as if he was passing out or had passed out already. I didn't know at that point but I managed to keep his back steady from sliding off.

Knowing I couldn't do anything else, I advised his wife to call an ambulance to fix the cut he had incurred from the fall and to call her friend (Which I also deliver to) to help her out. I looked back at the old man before I left and he was just there with his back against the chair passed out. I figured he was tired from his attempts to get up and decided to get some rest.

The next day, when I make my stop at the wife's friends house, I get the news that the old man had died. When her friend went to go help her out after I left, she realized he was already dead when she got there. Now what's freaking me out is the thought of me having been witness to his death. The image of him leaning against the chair with his head down is the part I remember the most. It makes me wonder if I had the strength to carry him back onto his bed if he would've been able to regain his strength. Or if I would've just left him there on the floor and called rescue to save him, would the outcome change. Now I know medics, firefighters, and all the men and women who are out there saving lives are accustomed to this, but to the average joe like me, it's definitely odd.

Just thought I'd share this and see if anyone else has had something similar happened to them. Discuss.

that sounded like a invitation to tell stories to me!

sounds serious. this is why i am training to be a emt. i love the fact that i will be able to help others with my capabilities.but in your case the best you could have done is call 911 and try to position him in the recovery position which is not sitting upright btw.just a tip in case any of this type of situation confronts any of you ever.

Should have called an Ambulance right when it happened. It was good that you were there as she could have freaked out and something worse could have happened. These moments are always eye opening and great to reveal new levels and perspectives.

To be honest, seeing someone die is not something that would bother me, in the right setting. I'm sure if someone's head was blown off in front of me it would leave a little impact me but things like that have never bothered me. My brother has seen 6 people die since he started his job in the ER last month and he is not bothered by it one bit. I guess during the procedure you're not thinking of him dead, and mainly focused on bringing him back to life. That's just me though.

well knowing somebody you know jsut dies in front of you knowing you will never hear his or her voice again is different than somebody you dont know.

People are going to die, there's nothing you can do about it. Why blame yourself for anything. You're going to have to get over it eventually. It's life, shit happens.. Expect it.

True but the point that benarovi is trying to get across is that you'll get more of an emotional impact if someone you know dies compared to someone you don't know.

Your post makes you sound like Dolph Lundgren. "If he dies, he dies."
