The D1GP USA Miami Round drama has surfaced. James Bondurant was granted 16th place after qualifying and it was later determined he was 17th and removed from the top 16. Apparently the drama spilled over into web forums and text messages. As a result the Drift Avengers/James Bondurant have been suspended for the 2009 season and stripped of all points due to their actions. Rich Goodman, the president of the D1GP USA has released this statement about the event:
1) James Bondurant – Suspension of D1GP USA competition license for the 2009 season, loss of series points and a fine of $10,000. The remedy in order to compete in D1GP USA again after the suspension period and to waive the imposed fine is a formal letter of apology to fans on drifting.com, a personal meeting with Keiichi Tsuchiya, personal meeting with D1GP USA Competition Director Terence and only after all these requirements have been met will James be required to meet with D1GP USA President to discuss the rules and regulations of the event series in detail. It will then be at the discretion of D1GP USA President to grant a provisional license to re-enter D1GP USA.
2) Ruth Surrey and “Dr. Z” will never be allowed to be affiliated with D1GP USA again in any manner. There is no remedy.
3) No driver will be allowed to participate in D1GP USA while affiliated with the Parties

4) No member of our staff will be employed while affiliated with the Parties

5) Recommendation will be made by the President of D1GP USA to D1GP Corporation to uphold this disciplinary action within their series as well as their affiliate series’ around the world

6) These matters will be made known to all D1GP affiliates of any kind worldwide
In other news related to this story we have been told Forest Wang has of course unaffiliated himself with this team so he will able to take drift in the rest of the D1GP USA season.

I never thought something like this would happen in D1GP, but I guess there’images a first time for everything. James Bondurant (pictured right), his team owner Ruth Surrey and his mechanic known as “Dr. Z” violated D1GP’s Rules of Conduct during Round 2 in Miami, Florida.

D1GP made an error in the judging that resulted in Bondurant being moved from 16th to 17th out of the TOP 16. D1GP corrected this error and continued with correct results, but it appears they weren’t willing to accept that. They violated many of the Rules of Conduct, such as trying to coerce the judges to overturn the decision through text messages during the event. They refused to co-operate with D1GP Officials and criticized the league publically which also goes against the rules of conduct.

There were multiple posts on Drifting.Com by all three members making allegations of cheating, drug use and more. Even with these accusations no proof has been found to say if the judges were cheating or used drugs.

Ruth Surrey and Dr. Z have issued the most damage posting numerous times on Drifting.com with profane language and Dr. Z even going so far as to use Racial Slurs on a radio interview with Justin Banner using the terms “Orientals” and “Japs” as a negative influence.

“At the request of our Competition Director, Terence Jenkins, I agreed to not move towards immediate disciplinary action in this matter, but rather to discuss this with the Parties over dinner before this escalated any further. We made every attempt to extend our hand, however those attempts were not welcomed and the infractions by the parties continued.”

There was suspicions on whether or not Takahiro Ueno or Adam Andretti were involved at all, but this has not yet been determined. D1Gp contacted Forrest Wang and he is no longer affiliated with Drift Avengers and will remain on the D1GP USA Series.

Rich Goodman, the President of D1GP USA has issued his statement regarding the offenses and has stated the consequences the three individuals must face. These are as listed:

1) James Bondurant – Suspension of D1GP USA competition license for the 2009 season, loss of series points and a fine of $10,000. The remedy in order to compete in D1GP USA again after the suspension period and to waive the imposed fine is a formal letter of apology to fans on drifting.com, a personal meeting with Keiichi Tsuchiya, personal meeting with D1GP USA Competition Director Terence and only after all these requirements have been met will James be required to meet with D1GP USA President to discuss the rules and regulations of the event series in detail. here is the story

actually if you had been following the threads on drifting.com this whole thing make alot more sense, D1GP is not in the wrong here.

the driftavengers as a team is cancer. A group of people who really should not be involved with the sport

I agree with piner their a bunch of cocky assholes who think they can do whatever they please and get away with it

I dont know. I think its wrong if a team cant call bullshit on the judges without reprimand. Though with FD its never the team, its always a friend of the team it seems lately
