q45 brakes vs z32 turbo brakes

So im reading about these brake upgrades for 240's and people keep insisting on the q45 setup because it keeps the same brake bias. Is the q45 front brake setup the one i should go with?

How about on the rear what do you guys suggest when upgrading the rear brakes?

man do what i did... you are still 4 lugs? if you are go with the m30 rotors altima calipers and you are set...

yeah but for z32 you need all 4 calipers lines and bmc and booster.

q45 is only 2 pistons but does not require bmc or booster.

Anyone else have input?

there is a big difference between z32 and q45 front brakes. on my personal car i had 97-01 q45 front brakes. which are significantly bigger than the 90-96 q45/j30 front brakes. i think z32 is over rated unless you are going to do the whole z32 brakes swap with rears and master cylinder. i out stoped s chassis with z32 with my q45 set up. and i was able to retain the stock rears and e brake with the stock master cylinder.

here is a short list of factory front brakes that work on any s chassis and related mods needs to run the brakes properly:

z32: there are 2 different sizes, the smaller n/a brakes were aluminum and lighter, can run these brakes behind 15 inch wheels, but will run into wheel fitment issues when going with after market wheels. you also need front conversion lbrake lines when swapping to z32. will not work properly without z32 rears and master. you end up with way to much front bias.

90-96 q45/j30: these are a direct bolt on and require no special mods or wheel selection to run, stock lines bolt up. works with stock master and rear brakes. fits behind 15's. pretty strait forward. but not sure on how much after market support there are for these brakes as far as pad selection and so forth.

97-01 q45: these are huge, more swept area than z32, but only 2 piston. i had these on my car and loves them. stock lines work, and you have a pretty good pad choice (i ran ebc green stuff's). you do have to run 16's or bigger as these brakes are to big to clear 15 inch wheels. and you do have to modify your spindle to get the bigger brakcket bolts to work. but its nothing 5min with a die grinder won't fix. plus these as well as the earlier q45/j30 brakes can be found in the junk yard for next to nothing. i picked mine up from cophers and paid less than $100 for everything. granted you still have to buy pads, and cut/replace the rotors.

Question. All you have to do is make the holes bigger for the caliper bolts by just using a die grinder. No need to cut the dust cover/ any other modifications? Any more info would be awesome. Thanks again bill.

you have to have a bmc shield and you're fine.. i would reccomend that with any car that has the turbo manifold right next to the BMC

Im planning on going with q45s on my 5 lug s14. Bolts right up to the same lines so no conversion lines needed (though im gonna buy SS ones) and the pistons are on the inner side of the rotor so you can still run low offset wheels. Also theyre cheaper lol and there is alot of aftermarket performance pads for them, ive seen Project Mu and Hawk pads for the q45.

Which year q45's?

If your only doing the front you dont need the brake master and no booster is need at all for anything. If you do the rear you have to do the Z32 E-Brake Assembly or you will not have a e-brake. If you do the rear calipers then you have to do the Master. All is bolt on and you need conversion lines. The Z brake upgrade is bout a $500 upgrade i say for everything. For your Info. All rears are the same theres no 26 or 30mm rears just the fronts are diff.

q45 brakes are simple brake options, readily available, and close to the same size as teh gtr....(correct me if im wrong) believe me they stop
