Will the new Camaro have IRS?

I hope the 5th Gen Camaro will have IRS finally, GM might be cheap and stick a 12 bolt on there?I'll trade in my T/A for the Camaro if it has IRS and the LS7 for the ZL1 option. :D

i assume IRS means independent rear suspension. Not many people in this forum are up to date on chevys. I would check like an f body website for that.

IRS is independent rear suspension, it'll be a quantum leap for the Camaro which always had a solid axle. Cool air to the radiator come on. I am a member of LS1tech but it's still not confirmed if the Camaro will have IRS. The Camaro will finally be able to handle like it should. All GM has to do is keep the weight at around 33xx-35xx lbs and its all good. I can always lighten the car later.

how much weight can you possibly take off the car? not 1000lbs worth to be similar to other competition cars.

i want another s chasis. not a camaro

it better have irs.

you'll be surprised when a heavy *** LS7 powered F body own u in the corners

they are fun cars. Anything with that much power and RWD is fun even if it handles like mush, well i wouldnt think it would be SRA since its gonna be based on the next GTO platform which has IRS and it would probly actually cost them more money to reengineer the platform to accept a solid rear axel and plus they would probly want to one up the mustang since that is planned to stay SRA, hell the new challenger is gonna have IRS

Screaw them fat, piggy, gas, guzzlers....... I'm sure my S-chassis can spank'em in a str8, grip, or drift line :p :D

Corvette C6 Z06
7.0L OHV V-8
Z06 is the only 500+HP car without a federal gas guzzler tax....

estimated EPA ratings are
16 city/ 26 highway

11.7 sec 1/4 mile @125mph

198 top speed

1.04G SKIDPAD

0-60 time of 3.7 in 1st gear

1991 Nissan 240sx
2.4L DOHC I-4
MPG (city) 22
MPG (highway) 28
MPG (combined) 24

I sure hope you didn't include the C6 Z06 in your "fat, piggy, gas, guzzlers" statement.

Surprisingly, my friends '02 WS6 Trans Am gets better gas mileage than my RX-7, at least on paper (what u expect from a rotary)

that has alot to do with tires.

but still, the c6 zo6 is one of my favorites. and on the highway with the long *** 6th gear you get great milage. SCC just did a comparison between an ls1 powered rx7 and a normal one and i was surprised the ls1 powered rx7 did so well and gets better gas milage in city and highway.

Rotaries gulp (well, waste too) rediculous amounts of gas.

I do because I could care less about what MPG it gets driving 65mph on perfectly flat roads in an extremely tall *** 6th gear. Take a trip around town in a vette NOT driving like a pussy and you'll be wishing you could fill up with 87.

There's more than one way to cheat those mpg tests too...just look at 3 years ago (IIRC) SCC ultimate street car challenge.

The LS series smallblocks are awesome engines regardless of what they are in

Indeed.

LS1 (good engine, too bad they also put it in **** chassis cars like f bodies) + RX-7 ( awesome chassis FD chassis, but for budget FC) = awesome car.

the only thing is when the custom parts break down, its harder to find a replacement.

if you cant weld and dont have access to scrap metal, dont bother trying that... however, rwd mounts are very simple (especially solid ones).

Im thinkin the 5th gen Camaro will be compared to the next Supra. Currently only 2 american cars can handle. Corvette and Viper. Heres to hopin the Camaro will be #3. The C6 has nothing to be compared to vs imports. the next NSX might do?
