Who cares who invented it? Ok lets say the BMW driving Germans of the 80's did. Congrats BMW driving Germans of the 80's! Too bad you weren't smart enough to realize the potential of it, but thank god the Japanese did - and thought to turn it into the legitimate, organized sport we all know and love today. In that case Americans have been "power sliding" forever. No one will ever know who the first person to Oversteer in a controlled manner was.

Like TonyMac said, fortunately the Japs were smart enough to organize it and make it what it is today.
