Theves And Vin #

Here is INFO worth the price of
your car....

WHAT WILL the car thieves THINK
OF NEXT?

The car thieves peer through the
windshield of your car or vehicle,
write down the VIN # from the label
on the dash, go to the local car
dealership and request a duplicate
key based on the VIN #.

I didn't believe this e-mail, so I called Chrysler-Dodge and pretended I had lost my keys. They told me to just bring in the VIN #, and they would cut me one on the spot, and I could order the keyless device if I wanted.

The Car Dealer's Parts Department will
make a duplicate key from the VIN #, and collect payment from the thief who will return to your car.

He doesn't have to break in, do any damage
to the vehicle, or draw attention to himself. All he has to do is walk up to your car, insert the key and off he goes to a local chop
shop with your vehicle.

You don't believe it?

It IS that EASY.

To avoid this from happening to you,
simply put some dark tape (electrical
tape, duct tape or medical tape) across the VIN Number Metal Label
located on the dashboard.

By law, you cannot remove the VIN, but you CAN cover it so it can't be
viewed through the windshield by a car thief.

I urge you to forward this to your friends before some other car thief steals another car or truck.

I got this email, sounds real ppl....

opinions?!

Thank god, my vin plate fell into my A/C vent... lol

Dealers are really supposed to make you show proof of ownership before making a copy of anything. But as people are lazy, they probably don't care and charge you for a copy or have an inside man... Whats next?

Its illegal to cover your vin the cops can and might give you shit for it while your car is parked somewhere and can tow if they feel the need.

this is bullshit, when you goto make a key, they demand proof of ownership. even if they have your vin in their registry for like services they still want proof of ownership. so i call bs flag

this is true but if you know someone and they work there it only takes some cash to make people turn their head especialy these days. my spelling blows i know.

Some places don't care about ownership. Go in there, complain you need to get to work and you lost your key or your late for a plane or w/e. You'll beable to get them to give you one. When I had my eclipse I went right into the Chrysler place and they didnt need anything but my VIN and they ordered me the key. It is simple.

If you don't want your car to get stolen then get a kill switch, quick release, and an alarm. If your think your car is going to get stolen that easily do what my friend did.

Get a bolt drill it into the ground weld the screws and get a chain thick enough bolt cutters can't go through them and then use the chain to bolt to your axles and call it a day.

Some cars etch the vin number into the glass now. My 95 Camry had the vin etched into all the glass.

bs you must prove ownership tried it b4 titlewasnt in my name and they said no

When someone says no, someone will eventually say yes.

The mommy daddy concept at its finest.

pretty sure most dealers sate you need proof of ownership. This also started after gone in 60 seconds came out. And I dont think they can cut a normal key based on a VIN. they need vin for the chips that some keys come with

every time i park my car somewhere i always put the dash board rug so the sun doesnt pwn my dash board ( i drive an S13) it always covers the VIN number so im safe. but i dont wanna end up going back to my car and finding a ticket bcuz i had the VIN covered:ugh:
