RALLYCROSS September 23rd &24th at Homestead-Miami Speedway
Welcome to another RallyCross event
On the weekend of September 23rd and 24th the Florida RallyCross Championship in conjunction with the Florida Region of the SCCA and hosted by RallyRebels.com, South Florida Motorsports Report and Grassroots Motorsports. will be holding its 1st Divisional RallyCross at the Homestead-Miami Speedway.
This Divisional RallyCross will attract competitors from across the South Eastern United States as well as the regular drivers who compete in the Florida RallyCross Championship.
For the first time we will be holding a 2 day event. Saturday Morning there will be an opportunity to practice with a 2 hour open test & Tune session followed by a full RallyCross running until the evening. Sunday morning we start all over again finishing up in the afternoon. For those chasing the Championship in their respective classes this will be a chance to finish the season by getting double points as each day we will scored as separate events. Those competing for the SCCA Divisional Championship will be scored by combining both days.
What is RallyCross?
Come on out and drive or just watch to learn more and get the fever!
Imagine a scaled down version of a performance rally stage laid out on a non-paved plot of land where the course is delineated by traffic cones instead of trees or rocks. The entry fees and equipment requirements are considerably less than those necessary to enter any other forms of performance rally, so in most locations one need only arrive at event registration with a sound, hardtop vehicle and the entry fee. We will assist the first time competitor with entering the appropriate class, making their way through technical inspection and finding their way around the course. Best of all, it's great fun!
Required safety is stock or better seatbelts and Snell 90 or better helmet in good condition. More info about rules and classes can be found on the www.rallyrebels.com web site.
As in Autocross, drivers staff locations on the course for safety between their own runs. The course is relatively smooth with elevation changes and varied soil/surface types. The course condition will change throughout the event and may necessitate a change to the course if heavily rutted or unsafe conditions arise. Organizers have the right to change the course AT ANY TIME during the event. As in ProRally, there is no guarantee all competitors will have the same course conditions. For more info go to. www.RallyRebels.com
RallyCross is not only the most widespread and readily accessible form of Sports Car Club of America extreme dirt motorsport, it is the logical first step for an aspiring Performance Rally competitor.
As the doorway to a Performance Rally career, RallyCross is the most cost effective way to gauge a driver's interest and aptitude for "doing it in the dirt." RallyCross classes are tailored for local entrants but usually categorize cars according to number of driven wheels, engine capability and the style of tires mounted. Unlike Solo II, a similar competition staged on paved surfaces, where an entrant's ranking is based on the single fastest run, RallyCross competitions are usually judged on the total of multiple runs.
