Pentax? Canon?

anyone ever use Pentax cameras before? any opinions? they're a bit cheaper than Canon and Nikon i've noticed and wondering what (if any) downfalls to them are....

trying to get into a little photography on a high school budget lol so any info is appreciated
 
^he right its a good starter camera i have one its pretty easy to use and takes great pics but i dont do photography i just like the pics it takes for the price
 
true true... i saw that and really want it but i dont have the cash right now unfortunately.

but i was looking at either a nikon D60 or Canon rebel xti but i saw pentax was slilghtly cheaper and just wondering if they were good camera's or if anyone had any bias against/for them.

there great cameras. but shoot in the RAW format and edit using CS or lightroom. jpegs are more or less ehhhh....

There's a bit more to shooting than just taking the picture and knowing the camera. photoshop/lightroom/whatever editing program goes hand and hand with digital photography as using a darkroom goes with film photography.
