Ok got my car running , but It has a problem

The oil pressure gauge is reading really low. I don't know if it is the gauge, or the pump... Is there any tips you guys can give me on how to check the oil pump? It is a KA24DE in a nissan .

cold start it is higher and the drops to around 20 psi. If I rev it up it doesn't really rise at all. Kind of off and on! To be exact it is around 40 psi if im not mistaken!

I forget what the spec is for ka oil pressure, i belive it is measured at 3000 or 3500 rpm. Change oil and filter. What weight oil are you running?

check the factory service manual for specific pressure at 3000 rpm. If it is not there, change the oil pump.

If you did rebuild that ka, i highly doubt you specd the oil clearances tight enough to warrent 10w30. Read a few things about what those numbers mean when you select the weight oil, mainly heat index. I would keep away from oils that have a low heat index on a turbocharged engine with no oil cooler.

If it isn't then what? I am gonna call the place I got the engine from tommarrow since it has a 3 month warranty and see if the will refund my money or what. The car drivers fine. I can't explain this crap at all.
