miata suspension questions...

Ok, as most of you know Im using an IRS on my truck instead of the traditional solid axle with link bars.

I was until lately happy with my choice of an s13 rear setup. I have started looking into different options as Im trying to achieve a greater look that I could with the s13 subframe.

So if any miata guys can step in and answer me some questions...

1. How good is the rear suspension set-up for handling?
2. Is there as many aftermarket part options as for the s13? IE: traction rods rucas and the such

And if someone could do me a huge favor and get me a measurement from outside to outside of the brake rotors, I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks in advance,
-Mike

i cant get you measurement now but maybe tommorrow i can get them for ya while i work on the car.....

miatasuspension is nothing short of amazing...its double wish bone style meaning the shock sits on the lower control arm and has an upper control arm wraping around it and thats it...the hubs are seperated from the shocks/spring setup>

unlike s13s most of our rear alignment figures are adjusted using the stock parts...(due to the double wishbone setup we dont use traction rods and none of that added stuff s13s use). the only aftermarket suspension part out there for miatas is just tubular upper control arms for the rear becuase when slammed you fall out of your camber range and you cant set the camber to a proper level. everything else is just stock... (given the fact you upgrade the springs and shock because the stock one blows anus and is too soft for any real hard driving).

now for the bad...the only bad thing about maita's suspension geometry is when slammed or lowered significantly you loose the little to no shock travel a miata has.
one way people fix this and coilovers companies go about this is extending the shock mounting point ont he top hats and raising it higher so the shock and fit into the top hat gaining more travel.

i can show you pictures and stuff but if your really interested i would post them up laters. hope that helps out. laters.

BTW if you near a rear subframe i got one.

I am interested in pictures bro, that would help me out a bit...

of course I will be able to raise the upper mounting point, but my truck will be low. So I will have issues running low then this may not be the thing for me. But Ill take a look at some pics if you post them up and see if there is anything I can do to correct it.

What all does the subframe include?

i am working on it today but let me see if i can get some pictures for ya.

subframe just includes the frame itself, uper and ower control arm on the leftr and right. and the sway bar. thats it....

word, PM me a price... If its low enough I might ditch the 240 idea and try and find a open miata diff.
