Ka24de timing tensioner noise

I am going to buy a 92 coupe but the guy says that the timing chain tensioner has been rattleing for about 2months. I need to know how serious of a problem this is. The car has 160k on it and I plan on doing a timing chain replacement if i buy the car. The problem is the car is located in North Carolina and I would have to drive the car back here to SFL. So any input would help. Thanks
 
Is it the tensioner or just the bracket on top. take of the valve cover and take out the broken piece if its just the bracket. if the tentioner is bad its a bit of work but its not that hard, its just alot of work
 
Yea Im not sure if its the tensioner or the bracket up top the car is in North Carolina. He says that it is the tensioner. If it is either one would i be ok to drive it back from nc to sfl?
