that sir is a power cable wich goes to a plug next to your relay box wich also goes to your batt..wich is why its power ...

ps that looks to be in the right place maybe your alt is over charging and burning it up

check the wiring ? take it to discount and check if its good just in case and follow the wire to the connection which should be on the side of your relay box

ground the neg to the chassis i think thats what ur problem is

i dont have my ground hooked up to the alt i only have the one that goes to the manifold from the batt ...i have my bet on the alt is over charging or he has a short somewhere..make sure u have the neg from the batt to the batt tray to the manifold ..it seems from the pic he has it but just in case

or blame it on ronches timing

he has the neg cable going straight from the terminal to the motor, its possible because of the very weak ground the power is going thru such resistance that its heating and frying the cable

hmmm it could be the weak ground....you told me to bold the negative from the batt to the chasis to the manifold i havent grounded it to the chasis it could be lack of ground maybe??

its quite possible, if u have the original battery tray ther should be a spot for a 10 or 12mm bolt and u bolt that eylet i showed u too it, if its rusty make sure u clean it good with some sandpaper and ur good to go

the same thing happend to me there is a peace of insolation under the bolt thats keeps the power from shorting out thruw the chase just disconect it try to center it so it dont touch the altrenator body and check if still doing it
