So I'm cutting my intercooler holes and little do you know it; BAM! my saw slips and cuts half of my body harness off. This is the harness that runs to the passenger side fuse box. Question is, should I just connect them together and heat wrap them or buy a new body harness from the j yard? I would have to extend some of the wires since I cut on an angle. Does the thickness of the wire matter? Please, any input would be greatly appreciated.

holy fuck buy a new harness your gonna have nothing but problems if you try to fix that shit

LMAO! You got parkinsons or something? Hit the J and pick up another harness unless u like those lil electrical monsters

harness at the junkyard are just as bad and never work out right i went through 4 on the purple car trying to get one to work right......honestly it doesnt look that bad just rewire it, u shouldnt have any wiring problems since the car wasnt on nor was the battery hooked up so shit shouldnt have shorted and melted together

dammit. so many mixed messages, I appreciate the help. Yes, the car was not on so their was no possibility of anything shorting out. So should I extend the wires, or get a harness. Also, will the s14 dohc KA work that locko has work on an sr20det? Also, where does the engine bay harness exactly route through? And i see 14 people viewing the technical section so I should get some good responses.

idk if lockos harness will work u would prob have to do alot of wiring, i complete riped my chassis harness in half at countyline in my green car and put it back together at the event and never had a problem, i also did it on my black car at cfrc and had to make wire fuses to even run the rest of the day but when i got back home just cleaned up the harness fixed the wires and havent had a problem, also junkyards charge out the ass for harness so i would first try to fix it but make sure u do it right.

Jeremy, what did u use to connect the wires? Did u Solder them? What is the BEST way to put them back together?

I'd say to reduce the chances of any problems or resistance/voltage stuffs they need to have the proper wire ga., soldered and heat shrunkkk

either solder or butt connectors then wrap the whole thing in electrical tape, all i did was tape them back together and that held up fine so if u solder them or use the connectors u should be golden

what this nag said solder would be the best way to go

butt connectors on ur harnes... yikes...

to each their own soldering them would most def be the best way no doubt about it. like i said all i did to fix my harness was twist the ends together and use electrical tape lol prob the worst way to do it but it help up find and has for the past 2 years

.... just use the same gauge... they are cheap as hell.(be sure is for automotive...you dont want it melting from the engine heat lol..

me too lol. anybody know the exact gauge size? LOL might as well extend them and tuck the fuse box lol
