so im stuck home all day for three days and my friend picked me up for a car meet and since we both own 240s he tried to show me that he can drift better than i can...(i dont know how to drift, so anything is better than me, i dont think sliding in the rain counts)

but anyway his car was doing this
he has coilovers and i dont and ive never encountered this before
im learning and i kinda want to be ready for this when it happens.
what do you do? is it just a bad entry? did he not kick the back end out with the ebrake or a clutch kick feint combo etc?

.

its horribile understeer. what do you do about it?
btw, thats just a random youtube video not me or my friend. but it shows exactly what happened

there are too many factors that can lead to understeed.
bad tires
bad initiation
wrong timing of initiation inputs (steering/throttle/handbrake/clutch whatever)
bad suspension setup
dinosaur babies
wrong air pressure in tires front
wrong air pressure in tires rear
bad clutch - wont deliver the motors power if its slipping
midget rainbows
too slow
too little aggression on the initiation

lots of things. kind of have to be there with him and see the car to really know what to start working on first.

Fucking hate when that happens.

hahahahahahha.

The best part is that someone made a slow motion video of some guy understeering. hahaha.

but yes, understeer can happen for tons of reasons.
Crappy front tires
too weak of an initiation
poor alignment
poor car setup in general
bigger tires in the front than in the rear(yup you read that right)
too grippy of a tire in the rear.
so on and so forth

Makes sense. Do you know of any drivers who run a setup like that?

i used to run bigger tires up front on my sohc. allowed the front new225sToyos to bite/control while letting rear slide on the 185s junkyardspecs.

Stock miata diffs are torson i believe. Making them extremely difficult to slide. Upgraded the diff and driving and the issues will be gone

So everyone is saying why understeer occurs.
I'm asking what would you do if it happened?
I future brake to bring weight to the front end causing front tires to grip
Then ebrake causing rear tires to slide.

Is this correct? Or do you just stop and try again lol

If you brake too hard your front wheels will lock up the front tires making the understeer even more apparent. A quick pull of the e-brake would be a good option, but if you don't know what you are doing I would just straighten the car out and stop. You shouldn't be street drifting at all, but even less if you are not sure what you are doing.

Sarcasm, right? I mean, if you are for real, would you care to explain why? That is boggling my mind.

turn off the FAIL button!

or

come out to county line so we can see in real time what he is doing wrong and then we can give u the proper remedy to ur understeer.
