Headgasket...

Bought a car with a blown head gasket. The only sign of it being a head gasket is constant boiling in the overflow tank even when cold, and overheating after like 20 minutes. Other than that, the car runs perfect...Should I go ahead and just replace the head gasket, or swap the engine...I know I'm skilled enough to take on the job of swapping the gasket...Any recommendations?

yeah; make sure it's the headgasket.

compression/leakdown test it.

All depends on mileage condition of bottom end of the moter when you resurface the head it raise the compression slightly. but if its a good motor than yes go ahead do the headgasket and beef it up alittle to cometic or greddy or something.

1st off cometic sucks. second what kind of motor is it?? if its something like a ka24e then you might just be better off upgrading and saving yourself the trouble later. a swap probably wouldnt cost much more and would be worth it imo.

Check the oil and do a radiator compression test to check for leaks. If oil is at all milky looking, its the gasket, replace it. Does the coolant level go down when it's running?

The only thing that leads me to believe its the head gasket is the constant boiling in the overflow tank. Now the bottom of the water pump has started to leak. I noticed a weird sound coming from the head area at low rpm, almost like a rattling...even when I rev it it turns into a scraping rattling/pinging sound...Fucked valves? I think I'm going to save my self the hassle and just buy another motor. BTW it's a 92' ka24de.

I got a ka for sale.. really cheap and i'll help put it in.. I'm pulling it out of my car in about 5 mins if you wanna give me a call 561-603-1333
Fuck i for got i dropped my phone in the lake yesterday! Pm me your number and i 'll call

and you have nothign to lose by just pulling the head off the motor to see whats up. a compression test would also help. but id wait on buying the gaskets until you look at the head and the wp.
