real quick i need some clarification.. i ordered new rotors and pads for a 240sx.. today i found some time to install my rotors and pads.. well the rear were a PITA but are done.. the front rotors were also perfect but the pads didn't match.. i went to the local italian shop and after some research through some old ass manuals they figured out my current front pads match a nissan sunny not sure the year.. my old pads match perfectly.. the pages had 1:1 scale diagrams.. i will have the sunny pads tomorrow..

are 240 front brakes different from the 180?.. thanks..

yes the 180sx brakes are diffrent from the stock 240sx brakes. the rotors are larger, and piston diameter are larger too

no they are not, the only one with different brakes is the 180sx type X which comes with slightly bigger brakes..

I believe the typeX comes with 280x22mm
the 240sx comes with 252x20mm
Z32 rotors are 280x 26mm or 30mm...
so basically people spend a shit load of money to look cool with their z32 brake upgrade, when they could have saved a lot more by just doing an altima/180sx type X swap.

but i could be wrong.. In my car i have the altima/180 typeX set up...

('93-'97) 1st generation Nissan altima rotors. These are 280x22mm and have a 4x114 bolt pattern.

('89-'99) 3rd and 4th generation Nissan Maxima brake calipers

('89-'99) 3rd and 4th generation Nissan Maxima brake caliper mounting brackets

('89-'99) 3rd and 4th generation Nissan Maxima brake caliper mounting bracket hardware kit

('89-'99) 3rd and 4th generation Nissan Maxima brake pads

grand total: $120.00 w/ new rotors & new pads

do you use just the calipers? do they bolt right up?

ok so why were the 240 front pads different from my pads?..

correct that, after talking to my friend Taka in japan, the 180sx brakes are bigger than the regular 240sx brakes.....
