Engine noise

Hey watsup guys. recently ive been noticing like a little noise thats coming from the motor. when i start up the car it suddenly makes a little clattering noise and then stops. I also notice it when im accelerating alot. not just normal acceleration...only when i accelerate a lot. idk if its the timing chain....any of you guys might know what it is?


PS: it started after i changed the oil. can it be that? i used 10 30 full sythenic

mine does it too.. usually when i first start it up, or when i'm at like 5K (right before a shift.. auto trans)


i'm convinced it's timing chain rattle, but i don't have anything to back up my hypothesis.

my belts are fine, so i think it's the timing chain. and if it IS the timing chain, then the problem isn't really a big deal. it's just the chain rubbing up against the guards, and i don't feel like removing the dizzy to fix it.

your description is a little vague, Id have to hear it before I guessed. take it to a mechanic? or maybe bring it to a meet so others can hear it?

If it started to happen right after you changed the oil then try switching back to a 20-50 mineral oil opposed to a synthetic. Trace your steps backwards.

Like Rick said, the description is way too vague, but I'd guess the timing chain tensioner.
 
not really its like a ticking type noise...its hard to explain. but i read about some one who had the same problem and same motor same year and everything...and it said to get new spark plugs...and a friend told me to switch from 10 30 to 20 50

It could be the header heat shild :p
 
maybe u have a really bad motor mount. happend to my civic hatch. my motor actually fell on the floor while driving. thats how bad it got lol
 
not motor mounts cuz i recently changed them. i changed my oil to 20 50. the car sounds smoother and the noise isnt showing up. ima wait until tomoro to confirm

the car is running real smooth since i put the 20 50 in. i dont hear the noise anymore. i guess 10 30 was just too thin cuz as i was taking it out i heard it coming out like if it was water:ugh:
