Cooling Problem S14 SR20

Okay.. idk if my problem is good or bad.

Cooling system running:

OEM Fan Shroud
OEM Clutch Fan
Koyo allum. radiator

(I had a oem thermostat but removed it cuz after 15mins of idling I saw no flow thru the radiator. After I removed it, I started seeing flow.)

Now, my problem is that my temperature gauge (aftermarket, installed correctly, running off feed hose from radiator to engine) only reads 100F. Stock gauge just reads below the dot for C.

I am using a heat sensor gun and after 10mins of warming up idling, 3mins of non-stop 5-6800RPM drifting, 10min drive (spirited), I pulled over and checked my heat on the front of the engine head, it read 119F. Right above the exhaust manifold on the head, was about 179F, Valve cover was at 112F, and radiator read 80F. Radiator hose feed and return were about the same, 102F.

Now, wtf is why does this shit stay so cold. During the day, and the night. :bigthumbu
 
potato thru a micrwave...idk.....try puttin the thermostat back in.....maybe u didnt see any flow cuz it was stilllll warming up.

this was before it got cold, I just took the thermosat out tonight because I wasn't seeing any coolant flow thru the radiator even after driving to the triangle and drifting for 30minutes.
 
get another thermostat you need the restriction in the system so the water will slow down a bit and actually absorb the heat from the block

its like when you have the hose in your yard if you let the water out slow it feels very cold but the faster it comes out the less and less cold it feels on your hand
 
flush the rad. and the motor out , whats the mileage on the motor? buy a nismo thermastate, and get rid of the stock fan and fan clutch youll gain hp and install an electric fan. As long as you wait 10mins before you beat on the motor so your motor gointo closed loop, don't worry if your running cold better than hot!!!

did u guys not read? i had a thermostat in there and the water wasn't flowing and the thermo worked. but anyway it works right now :D

and e-fans FTMFL!

yea i guess d1 cars dont have FAL sponsors.. sucks for them eh?
 
go to the d1gp website and look at the engine bay shots, i see atleast 5 cars with clutch fans in them

e-fans are for FWD because they couldn't fit a clutch fan in them
 
LOL altimas work fine with their fans and its a ka so why are 240's any different espesially with FAL fans or the good ones from murrays
