clutch sr20det

hey guys, so,

My clutch slips. Last night i raced a couple of runs and noticed my tranny whining. It only whines when i disengage my clutch, when engaged, it stops. Any ideas as to what it would be? Would it mean that its my clutch? some backgrtound: sr20det black top and clutch was never changed when swapped. Did swap about 4 months ago.

Thanks in advance:bigthumbu

thanks on the input bill, is this dangerous in any way?

absolutely its dangerous! if it continues to run dry and whine it might lock putting lateral stress on the pressure plate fingers causing them to break off shooting out in all directions possibly straight through the firewall. if you have to drive wear a helmet at all times until you can get it fixed. i had a friend that this happened to, it struck his jugular vein; he bleed to death in my arms...true story. may billy bob rest in peace, amen

any real pointers besides this gentlemen who obviously is a virgin?

u tryin to insult me? what makes you say that? lol but on da real there shouldnt be any catastrophic damage from a whining throwout bearing, not that i know of anyways. it'll just keep doing that untill you change it.

I could last a very long time making noise. Or not. There's your answer, b/c nobody can know that for sure. Just replace it w/ an oem one.

relax blacktop, call zilvia he'll set you straight. in all seriousness chill. just replace it when you have time but dont take forever.

LOL!!!!! OMG IM ROLLING ON THE FLOOR!!!!

so i just order my exedy clutch. It's oem :( but it will do for now. thanx hnh2002 u've been very helpful

UPDATE!! I installed the new exedy oem clutch. Laziness kicked in and i didn't change out the pilot bearing (the little circle thingy). However, i did change the throwout bearing. Problem, my car still whines!! is it because of the pilot bearing???? it whines when clutch is dis-engaged and gets louder when i accelerate.

ANY HELP WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED!!!!:)
