brake light swiitch?

k my brake lights arent working..at all.lights or no lights. when i press the pedal nothing shows.My bulbs are fine, fuses are good too..i looked under my dashboard to see if the switch was working..but discovered it was disconected SO i connected it back. but then i noticed the brake lights stayed on even when i didnt press the brakes..then i saw that were the switch makes contact with the brake pedal, there holes..and so now im confused..and what are pedal rubber stoppers ??

Just look at the switch when you are pressing down on the pedal to see if the switch is being depressed. If the switch goes through a hole on the pedal, then there should be a little plug in that hole.:bigthumbu
