AE86 with a sr20

you can put "teh drift motor" in anything with the right amount of money, obviously harder than a 20v since an SR was never meant for an AE but you can find SR/KA AE mounts online now. heck the old DG aces built a SRX-7 up in jerzee, and isn't there a AEwithSR in D-1?

yes it is possible I have (errr juan has them) a few of the old school option dvds and there are a few hachis that have sr20's in them. Its not hard apparently because alot of people do it its probably just mounting up new motor mounts and the driveshaft. Everything else should fall in place more or less, but of course with any motor swap (especially between 2 different companies) theres going to be a need to modify a few things.

stay on topic...with stuff like that its going to end up going from a what do you guys think to a nissan/toyota bashing thread.

There's a guy in tampa...his club4ag is markshatch or in tamparacing.c marksaccord, the dud that does the megasquirt harnesses and installations etc...anyways, he sells the engine mounts for the SR20 swap on the ae86...infact he'll do the swap for you too...but it req lots of money and moddin a celica supra rear end to fit the ae86 otherwise you'll pulverize the stock one

SRX-7 is a bad term since that's also a race team (google it). The SR/FC was Tony Angelo me thinks. His FD3S in Formula D has one too.

There is an AE86 in D1 with an SR.

This thread is proof

Nissan > Toyota

Huh? I like Nissan too but your logic is SEVERELY flawed. As far as modern 4cyls go between both companies, 3SGTE pwns the SR20Det. Inline sixes, 2J v RB...too difficult to say.

BTW mr. thread starter, I'd consider a CA18det for an 86 before an SR.

I say pound for pound the RB is crazier than the 2JZ. But all out, the 2JZ is a montser. But the 2.0 liter battle, the 3SGTE is better than the SR20DET. What's even crazier, is that the NA Altezza 3SGE makes the same amount of power than a red top and S13 black top SR20DET. I'm not bashing on Nissan at all. They both have great racing history, and as far as I can remember, they have had great battles between each other. As far as speed, yes the SR20DET in an AE86 would be great. Very light body with a powerful highly tunable engine. But for drifting, forget it, the 4AGE is better (in the AE86). Being that the car is light, so much power is not needed, and even less turbo lag. With the little power it makes it is better to have great response, such as NA engines with ITBs. Also a short wheelbase, such as the AE86, makes the car snap around fast, so with stupid crazy power, it makes it harder to control. My two cents. Just build a car for what you are going to use it for.

And theres a Nissan engine that makes about the same amount of power as the Altezza 3S-GE, the SR20VE. ;)

Although the idea of a SR20DET into an AE86 isn't bad, I'd rather stick with a Toyota powerplant and choose a 3S-GTE, a 3rd gen 3S-GTE to specific. That way you don't have to deal with the AFM and T-VIS from the 1st and 2nd gen 3S-GTE.

yeah my friend dave up here has a 86 with a 3SGTE in it and is pushing like 350RWHP and its gutted and it weighs like 1900lbs ****ing crazy **** he still needs to give me a ride in that car, hes robs (drumfunken)roommate also

That car is sick, but I can picture it having the Braille Auto syndrome. A car so light might have issues staying sideways since there's not much weight to shift. The amount of power is beyond overkill for it's weight.
