97 rearend w/ abs.?

ok like it says i have a rearend form a 97240sx w/ the abs sensor on it ....
now did all the 97'240sx w abs have a vlsd or lsd ...or does it vary...i just want 2 b sure b4 i atempt the swap...any input would help

not true
i have an open diff off a 96 with abs
to check if its vlsd
look on the back cover hopefully the factory sticker is still there and it says vlsd on it
OR
you can spin the output shaft and if both flanges spin in the same direccion its vlsd if the spin in the opposite of each other (one clockwise the other counter clockwise) then its open
let me ask you
is the sensor teeth located on the output shaft or on the input plate (where the driveshaft hooks up)

well i did some researching and the way abs works on the S chassis was measuring the diference in wheel spin when brakes where applied so
when you hit the brakes if one wheel locked up it would sence that and do its thing, so i believe that the abs cars dont have vlsd

well its not on my s13 yet...and the abs sensor is on the input shaft(wher driveshaft connects)and when i turn wher e the drive shaft connects..one ouput shaft turns the oposite direction...so i guess its not a vlsd......i guess ill need a real one soon...cause im burnin tires due to my welded diff....damn...

yes it is open and it is s chassis, and depending on what driveshaft you have might not work
even though everyone says they are bad get a j30 diff and axle, from my pointe of view , changing the fluid in them with the proper oil they have not been abused like any s chassis diff
welded diffs are good for track but on the street they get annoying and call to much attention, we already have police attention why give them another reason to piss one off and have him pull you over, besides the tire wear is increased and its geting harder to find decent tires for cheap now

You are absolutely WRONG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

There is a simple way to verify if u have LSD or ABS, is checking your MIN (Model Identifying Number) (that number under your vin inside your engine compartment 18th digits)
so check the 18th digit in your MIN and compared with this(apply for manufactured in AUGUST 1996 and beyond)

C or F = ABS and VLSD
so for the kouki if u have abs you have vlsd

And for you mendoza sport
since your car is 96 you may have a
"B" which means you have ABS and DONT HAVE LSD

SO do more research:bigthumbu

actually you ned to read more
he says he has an s13 meanining this dif is not stock and no vin number to verify
second every s chassis after a week ago is gonna be 11 years or OLDER ..... meaning anything could of changed in that time
also most of the cars imported to the us came as factory oppcions, one being vlsd, many of the dealers removed the diffs and installed them on other cars , thats why we find some cars with vlsd and some not...... yes you are correct about the aluminum plate in the engine bay but that does not change if the diff was removed previously
so please re read what we have posted and try to understand it
then make a comment

also..... my pointe is kinda proven with the koukibass chick..... she has abs 97 non vlsd car

^^^^^^^^^^^THIS IS A COMPLETE NON SENSE^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
But just to follow all your missleading chat......
1st. he said that he has a "97 rearend w/ abs.?"so i just post enought info to figure that a 97 with abs has vlsd. regardless the car where he is gonna put it.
2nd. of course any thing can change over time that does not change the point, thats what could happen to koukibass chick.
3rd. there is many dealer options like foor mats and aero but to a VLSD, if a dealer remove a VLSD from a 97 ABS equiped car the ABS wont work!!!!!!

so please READ, re read what we have posted and try to understand it
then make a comment, AND SOME COMMON SENSE WILL HELP YOU:D

look there is no use in argueing with you ....... i explained how he can check the diff outside by spinning one of the shafts and see if everything rotates in the same direccion and they dont according to him and according to him he has a diff from a 97 se abs, and kouki chick has the same and i just called a freind with a 98 abs LE and he has open diff...
abs = NOT ALWAYS vlsd
