1j is cheaper. But if you dont have much money. good luck completing the swap it is pricey and u will get bored of those stock twins quick.
 
the biggest difference is the 1J is 2500cc's and the 2J is 3000cc's, some say the 1J head flows a little bit better but nothing porting on the 2J head couldn't do. The 1J is bit more rev happy due to having a shorter stroke but it will have less low end torque and wont spool a big turbo as quick as a 2J.

I would get a 1J though because they are so much cheaper.

not to mention that the 1j internals really didnt get as much love as the 2j ones. big difference in price. complete 1j motorset about 2200 2j about 3 plus
 
thx i probably will go 1jz because ive called around and nobody seems to have a 2jz

i just got off the phone with jdm of miami and they gave me a price of 5000$ for a 1jz 6speed holy shyt just for the package not installed

the 6 speed is like 3500 alone. and dont get the vvti. the non vvti is cheaper. get a r-154.


i would be cautious buying online but here's an idea of the price

1595$ for non-vvti 2jz auto tranny
do they come in a single turbo version?
 
1jz is a 2.5 2jz is 3.0 1j head flows faster 2j head flows more 1j has parallel turbos 2j has sequential . 2j is like 300-400 more deff worth the 300-400 more for a 2j
