sr20det head question

he guys, i warped my head on my s14 sr and im going to be sending it out to get machined soon but figure since i have it at the machine shop i might as well build it.

can you guys give me some advice on what size valves, valve springs, and cams to use.

I also plan on doing intake and exhaust manifolds in the future but as of now its still going to be stock besides this work and it will be running on 12-13 psi

Thanks for your help

what turbo?

and by intake manifold i'm assuming you mean a greddy/freddy.

If you really want to build your head, you should go solid lifters. and don't feel like you have to get an aftermarket intake/exhaust manifold. Some of the most impressive bottom mount sr's run stock exh manifolds and you never have to worry about them cracking. Intake manifolds are nice when you're looking for top end. I would also ditch the warped head and look for a non-warped replacement.

thanks... i was thinking the same thing about ditching the warped head but buying a used head is sketchy it could have more problems than mine and when i get it rebuilt it should be fine

Warped head is fine normally it is only warped by under ten thousands and can be machined no prob. Now i would send the head to mazworx and have them build it with solid lifters and shimmed good springs retainers and tomie solid cams either 260 or 270 with a 11.5 or so lift. Also possibly a port and polish if u can afford. Talk to them they are located in orlando and do some of the best sr machine work iv ever seen. If you do get a new head let me know and i will purchase the warped one.

if your not running a big turbo (gt30 or up) than i would stick to stage two cams so it still spools decent. Around 350-400 stock bottom and stock intake and exhaust manis with a good tune. after that u need to go big turbo top mount.

Seriously if i would upgrade anything on the sr it would be pistons, rods, & cams.. I know your not touching your block but i seriously wouldnt do anything crazy to the head just get some springs, retainers, and cams call it a day..

bill i got a shop here that is going to rebuild the head for me and possibly port it, it looks like im going to go with the 260 cams , i got a hook up on the valve train just trying to decide what size valve to go with .

does anyone know if its worth it to put the adjustable cam gears on?

Thanks to everyone for their advice
