ok so i went to do a oil change on a friends 2001 ford taurus.its a v6.now we change the air filter and 3 of the 6 sparkplugs( started raining).now when we went to turn the car on it wouldnt even crank.i thought it was the battery so i jumped it and nothing.then out of nowhere it started up perfectly but when we put it in reverse it shut off again.im so confused.could the the mismatched sparkplugs be causing this?or maybe the maf needs to be cleaned?

Curious why you would only change 3 spark plugs.

I don't see why spark plugs would have anything to do with the car not cranking. Check you didn't disconnect any plugs or grounds while working. If you didn't touch the MAF then it shouldn't have any effect but clean it regardless.

i only changed 3 because it started to rain and to get to the rear ones i had to remove the manifold.i wasnt gona have time to do it. and i know the spark plugs shouldnt be any problem but just wanted to make sure.the only wire i disconnected was the negative on the battery cable.

Make sure that the MAF and all of the vacuum lines are all plugged in, retrace your steps for replacing the filter and plugs and see if you missed anything.

^^agreed its almost always something stupid i guarentee u got a loose ground somewhere when u disconnected that neg terminal. sounds like u dont have power if its doing nothing when u try to start it....now if it cranking and not starting then maybe u might want to look at maf, vaccum lines, etc.
